Course Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Understand Design Basics: Learn the main rules of design, such as how to create balance, rhythm, and harmony in a room.
• Work with Color and Light: Learn how to pick colors that work well together and how to use lighting to improve a space.
• Plan Your Space: Gain the skills to arrange furniture and create a floor plan that makes sense.
• Choose Materials: Learn how to select fabrics, flooring, and wall finishes that fit your style and budget.
• Design a Full Room: Take a room of your choice and turn it into a complete design project.
• Present Your Ideas: Create professional tools like mood boards and visual presentations to show off your design concept.

Course Contents

Module 1: The Language of Design

• Elements and principles of interior design.
• Introduction to color theory and creating a color palette.
• Understanding different design styles (e.g., modern, classic, minimalist).

Module 2: Space and Flow

• Principles of space planning and furniture layout.
• Creating floor plans and mood boards.
• Lighting design basics.

Module 3: Materials and Finishes

• Exploring textiles, flooring, and wall treatments.
• Selecting furniture and accessories.
• Budgeting for a design project.

Module 4: Final Project - Design Your Space

• Workshop sessions to develop a design for a real room.
• Individual consultations with the instructor.
• Final presentation of the design concept.

Course Details

• Prerequisites: None! This course is specially designed for beginners and amateurs. No prior background or experience in design is required.
• Registration Period: 18 May – 18 June 2026
• Course Duration: 20 June – 11 July 2026
• Schedule: One session per week (Saturdays), 3 hours per session.
• Location: Future University in Egypt - Campus
• Fees: 2,000 EGP
• Certification: A certificate of completion will be awarded by the university upon finishing the course.
